How to wake up earlier and get more done
I’ve always been a morning person. I was never one to sleep until Noon and would be lucky to still be in bed by 8:00 during the summer. Even now I still rarely sleep past 9:00 even with being out DJing until 3:00 in the morning.
An advantage of waking up earlier is that it’s easier to get more done and pack more into my day. Do I really need to stay up late and watch TV when I can just spend Sunday afternoons to catch my favorite shows On Demand?
And with the fall back time change this weekend, it’s a great time to reset your body clock and get in the habit of waking up earlier.
Reset your body clock
- Since you’ll be tired now in the evenings even though the clock says it’s earlier, start going to bed a few minutes earlier. Add 5-10 minutes per day to your sleep routine and you’ll be waking up earlier in no time.
- And since your body clock is now waking you up an hour earlier, slowly set your alarm 5-10 minutes earlier this next week until you gain an extra 30 minutes.
Get moving
Waking up 30 minutes earlier is great to start with and you can put that time to productive use. What better way to do that than by working out in your own home gym?
I don’t recommend going full throttle your first few days but ease into it with some light cardio and slowly ramp up the intensity. Once you’re used to getting up early, try moving your evening workout to the morning for a few weeks.
This home fat loss workout really helps me cut the fat off my stomach after the New Year when I’m getting ready for our Caribbean trips in the spring. I do the treadmill in the mornings and weights in the evening and slowly but surely I’m in great shape after a few months.
